About Anna

Anna long hair

Anna’s work transcends ordinary stained glass to become treasured jewels. She often incorporates handmade glass beads, crystals, depression glass, seashells and charms into her glass boxes, wall hangings, sun catchers, mirrors and other functional art. She is a full-time artist – designing her stained glass, jewelry and freelance graphic design as well as teaching painting and craft classes through Art Nites. Until the pandemic Anna was teaching four ART NITES painting/craft classes each month. Now she’s shifting to teaching online via Zoom and Facebook.

Anna’s first art award was in kindergarten! From then on, she won many awards throughout school including two National Scholastic Art Awards: one of her paintings hung in the World Trade Center for six months. Her formal art training was at the University of Massachusetts, where she received a BFA in Art Education, Cum Laude with teaching certifications K-9 and 5-12. While there she was a Board of Regents Commonwealth Scholar, a Foundations Art Award scholarship recipient and the first art student ever to complete the University Honors Program. She took masters level courses during a summer intensive in France and Belgium, studying painting under artists Scott Prior and the late Gregory Gillespie.

Over the years she has enjoyed working in many media: painting, ceramics, print making, stained & fused glass, jewelry design, graphic design and website design. She has worked at many art galleries, was a CPF (Certified Picture Framer), and restored paintings and gold leaf frames for local galleries. She received a CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) and INET+ . She has made websites for various art galleries and for a wholesale jewelry company where she was their art director and jewelry designer. She then created artwork for a greeting card company and helped to maintain their websites and social media. But she loves being her own boss now 🙂

At various times she has been a member of: The Ashford Arts CouncilThe Cape Cod Art Association, The Glastonbury Art Guild, The Art League of New Britain, The Norfolk Artisans Guild, The Brookfield Craft Center, The Guilford Art CenterThe Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society and a co-op member of The Connecticut River Artisans. Her artwork has been featured in many group and one-man shows throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Anna originates from Cape Cod, and the sea is still a theme in her artwork at times, in her paintings, jewelry and glass. Currently she lives in the “Quiet Corner” of Connecticut with her husband Steve and an array of pets. They cherish the charm and endure the tribulations of living in a nineteenth century farmhouse.

  1. Hello Anna,
Forgive me if this information is mentioned here somewhere, but I did not see it. I am interested in having someone make a stained glass box for my nephew’s upcoming Bar Mitzvah (Nov. 2) There used to be a woman in town where I live in Bedford, MA that I would work with, however she has moved. I looked through some photos of others you have done, and I can tell you do lovely work. Would this be something you are interested in doing?
On another note my son is in his second year at UConn, and he too was disappointed with the change in logo.
    Thanks,
    Karen
